DFW 2017 ROOKIE PROFILE: RB Jeremy McNichols

Jeremy McNichols – junior / 5’9″ / 212 – Boise State

  • Ridiculous pass catcher and he is pro ready route runner which means he could be a third down/PPR filler early
  • Added 30 pounds (mostly muscle) to his frame to become a college RB and remain a starter
  • Smart and effective block, which is another reason why he can contribute early
  • He will fearlessly take on Edge rushers giving up 50-60 pounds in the process
  • Shows great ability to get extra/positive yards after first contact
  • Runs with great balance as distributes his weight back and forth from thigh to thigh
  • Can break tackles going up the middle but the NFL is a much different animal than Washington State, Oregon State & BYU
  • Had a streak of seven 100 yard rushing games as a sophomore and a similar six game streak as a junior
  • Had three 200 yard performances in 2016: 28 carries for 208 yards (Oregon State), 40 carries 217 yards (Colorado State) and 31 carries 206 yards (UNLV)
  • 642 touches in 25 games as a starter means he has the stamina to remain a trustable player deep into those intense moments of the game
  • He hits the hole very quickly but may lack the power to get those tough yards in the NFL
  • Comparisons to Charger and Bengal great James Brooks but could be more powerful
  • Played in a heavy shotgun spread offense which may help his third down back cause and hinder his early down back cause depending on the system he ends up in
  • The Boise scheme was chiseled to feature him and what he does well, so he may not be very scheme diverse at the next level and versus next level competition
  • Lacks any big wow moments as he never faced top competition or an elite defense
  • Not ranked nationally coming out of high school where he was primarily a WR
  • Also recruited by Colorado State, San Diego State, USC and Utah (who showed the most interest, recruited by Dennis Erickson)
  • COMBINE UPDATE: 40= 4.49, Vert = 35 1/2″, Broad Jump = 10’1″, 3-cone = 4.06
  • NFL DRAFT SELECTION: Round 4-5
  • DYNASTY ROOKIE: 2.04-3.04, a solid landing spot could have him inching even higher.
