DFW 2017 ROOKIE PROFILE: TE Jordan Leggett

Jordan Leggett – senior / 6’5″ / 255 – Clemson

  • While it’s pretty hard to be a deceptive route runner at his size, Leggett does turn upfield with force after the catch
  • Not a punishing blocker but uses his girth to hold his ground
  • Added 30 pounds to his frame while at Clemson and that should make him a serious snap majority player
  • Above average hands catcher who can adjust to the situation when the ball is in flight
  • Will not test off the charts at combine but has a definite TE2 upside
  • Easily a movable and adaptable piece in any scheme but expect a rookie year of learning for the greater good
  • Could also fulfill H-back and move TE roles
  • Solid size mismatch in the slot, uses big frame well to out finese the coverage
  • His big mits and branch like arms are red zone nasty (8 TDs in 2015 and 7 TDs in 2016)
  • Shined against the stiffest competition (versus Florida State 6/101 in 2015, 5/122/1 in 2016 and versus Alabama 5/78/1 in 2015, 7/95 in 2016)
  • Very fortunate to have a quality QB who spotlights his strengths
  • Could use more route refinement, often rounds off his stem but that could be a product of the frantic Clemson offensive scheme
  • Ranked as the #13 TE in the nation coming out of high school
  • Also heavily recruited by Louisville and Florida Atlantic
  • Marshall, Miami (FL), Oregon, South Alabama, South Florida, Texas A&M and UCF also showed interest
