DFW 2017 ROOKIE PROFILE: WR Artavis Scott

Artavis Scott – junior / 5’10” / 190 – Clemson

  • He is one of those sleek, electric, agile slot players who can return kicks, create bubble screen threats and be that x-factor in any scheme
  • He can play that Tavon Austin/Tyreek Hill role in the right situation
  • Definite sleeper who only ran a 4.62 40-time coming out of high school
  • He is very quick out of breaks and has great field awareness and vision
  • He will not be a supestar but if he is used in the right way he could excel as a fantasy WR4
  • Not a timid play, he will mix it up to throw a block or gain a throwing window for his QB
  • Solid leaper who will fight for the ball
  • His yards per catch average of 10.1 is more of a reflection of the scheme and his role within it
  • His return abilities should not be under sold as that can build confidence within an organization and that will lead to offensive opportunities
  • He is not a true burner but his football IQ and acceleration in space are very apparent
  • Did have some ball security issues, he needs to protect the ball better when being wrestled to the ground
  • He may be too shifty to control in zone coverage but he can pressed, he will need some technique training
  • Ranked as the #9 WR in the nation coming out of high school, 68th overall and the #9 prospect in the state of Florida
  • Also heavily recruited by Florida State, Georgia, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, South Carolina, UCF and Virginia Tech
  • Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, LSU, Miami (FL), Michigan, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, West Virginia and Wisconsin also showed interest
  • COMBINE UPDATE: 40 = 4.61, Vertical = 31, 3-cone = 7.19, Broad Jump = 9’7″, Bench = 13
  • DYNASTY ROOKIE: Late 3rd or 4th
