DFW 2017 ROOKIE PROFILE: RB Wayne Gallman

Wayne Gallman – redshirt junior / 6’1″ / 215 – Clemson

  • Very reliable in the open field with elusive and decisive feet
  • Needs to be more of a beast after first contact
  • His dual threat abilities should make him a serviceable PPR player in a pinch
  • He runs very clean routes and he knows how to extend or shorten them to help his QB out
  • Solid in pass protection and he has soft hands out of the backfield
  • Uses his long legs to wear down linebackers who are giving chase
  • Five 100 yard rushing games as a junior, eight such games as a sophomore and three as a freshman
  • Never recorded more than four receptions or over 68 yards receiving in a single game (just two games over 60 and the rest under 44 yards)
  • Played with phenomenal talent at Clemson but only averaged 5.1 YPC, this suggests he is more than likely a middle round development guy with quality third down aspirations
  • Runs very upright much like TJ yeldon and Darren McFadden
  • He is a somewhat creative runner but he lacks true explosion
  • Needs to lower his shoulder and keep leg moving to fight through arm tackles
  • Definitely screams third round slasher back
  • Failed to be an impressive rusher twice versus the vaunted Alabama defense but he did make some big plays in the passing game
  • In a class with a potential half a dozen three down running backs Gallman is not a top 10 Rookie pick at this point
  • Ranked as the #30 RB in the nation coming out of high school and as the #36 prospect in the state of Georgia
  • Also recruited by Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin with the Bulldogs, Gamecocks and Badgers showing the most interest
  • COMBINE UPDATE: TBD

  • DYNASTY ROOKIE: 2.02-2.10, we really see him getting overvalued, if you are tempted try to trade back.
  • 2017 OUTLOOK: TBD
