DFW-IDP Blitz Podcast Episode 10 Week-3 Review

Texans 0 Patriots 27… Texans Bernardrick McKinney had a monster game with 6 tackles 10 assists and a sack. I am not ready to anoint him just yet, but it was nice to see; Watt had a down day, as did the rest of the Texans; Patriots were led by “my guy” Jamie Collins with 8 tackles 6 assists and an INT; I am still touting Trey Flowers as an add/stash as his snap count increases. He had 3 tackles and an assist

  • Cardinals 18 Bills 33… Cardinals Marcus Cooper looks to be the perfect streaming CB in required leagues as he had 6 solos and an assist after a stellar week last week; Tony Jefferson also continues to be a rock solid DB1 with 6 solos , 3 assists and a FF. Kevin Minter flashed with a 4 solo 1 sack game. He is rosterable and can start if your are deperate. Markus Golden is the rare 3-4 OLB that appears to be streamable with 4 solos, 2 assists and a sack; For the Bills, Zach Brown is looking again like a startable option each week with 10 solos and 2 assists. If you are on a championship run he could be acquired on the cheap; Veteran Lorenzo Alexander had a big day with 4 solos, 2 assists, 1.5 sacks and a FF. Don’t get too excited yet, as I would not choose to start him; Rookie-Watch: Adolphus Washington is only playing around 25% of the snaps but is showing well. He is worth rostering in deep leagues.
  • Vikings 22 Panthers 10… Vikings Harrison Smith continues to show why he is a top 5 option each week 6 solo 1 assist and 1 sack; As predicted in the start/sit it was Everson Griffen’s turn this week with 3 solo, 1 assist and 3 sacks! These guys will take turn every week and will need to be in your lineups. Hunter had a ho-hum 1 solo, 4 assist 1 sack game to chip in; Linval Joseph not to be outdone had a 2 solo, 5 assist, 1 sack game. They will give the Jets a run for their money as the best front in football this season. Anthony Barr was a recommended start and had 2 tackles, 5 assists, and a sack; The Panthers could not get anything going offensively. My boy Shaq put up a donut, but I still believe in him as a long term LB1. Stay with me! The vet Thomas Davis showed why he is still the man with 7 solos, 3 assists and a sack.
  • Broncos 29 Bengals 17… Broncos Shane Ray had a 3 solo, 3 assist, 3 sack game. Money or Mirage? I have not been a Ray fan, so I will lean mirage. Don’t go crazy trying to aquire him. For the Bengals, they had very few opportunities as the Panthers got nothing going offensively. They have a short week and get the Dolphins on Thursday. Look for the Bengals IDP team to bounce back in week 4.
  • Lions 27 Packers 34… The Lions did not have a big day defensively. Kerry Hyder continued his low streaming ways with Ansah out. He had 2 solos and a sack; The Packers Micah Hyde had a good day with Burnett out 8 solos and 3 assists. If Burnett is out again he is a streamable option. Nick Perry had a 6 solo, 1 assist, 2 sack day. He is usually a 3-4 sack a season guy so don’t get too excited. Blake Martinez continues to be solid, but not spectacular in the middle with 5 solos and 1 assist.
  • Ravens 19 Jaguars 17… I must admit, I thought this would be a high scoring affair providing more IDP opportunities. The Ravens Mosely and Orr both had solid days each getting an assist, but Orr was better with an extra tackle and assist; Terrell Suggs is an afterthought in most IDP circles due to his injury last season, but he showed up today with a 3 solo 2 sack game. When healthy he is a 60 tackle 10 sack guy and had some IDP value despite playing a 3-4 OLB spot. I think he is worth an add if he is on waivers and you are in need for a spot start. For the Jags, Posluszny continues to be productive with Jack being a non-factor. He had 10 solos, 2 assists, and an INT. Cyprien was busy with 9 solos and an assist; Malik Jackson started earning his big contract with a 2 solo 1 sack game. He is a good start in DT required leagues only at this point. Dante Fowler came back down to earth with a 1 solo game, while rookie Yannick Ngakoue had a 1 solo, 1 sack, 1 FF game. He has been impressive so far this season and is worth an add.
  • Browns 24 Dolphins 30… The Browns Jordan Poyer was busy all day with 10 solos and 2 assists. That production is not sustainable for him; Danny Shelton continued to be productive as a DT required option; Christian Kirksey will be an LB2/3 option all season. He’s not exciting, but 8 tackles and 1 assist is. Derrick Kindred was meh in relief of Ibraheim Campbell. I do not think this situation is settled, so I would hesitate to start any of them. For the Dolphins, Reshad Jones continues to be one of the top DBs in the league. I expected regression and it is not happening. 9 solos, 1 assist, and half a sack! Kiko Alonso continues to flirt with LB1/2 status with 6 solos and 2 assists. Xavein Howard has been a stellar CB required option and had 6 solos. Suh has 9 solos, 12 assists and 2.5 sacks in three games. He’s back to form and will be moving up my weekly list. He is a beast in DT required. This is what they brought him here for. Look for him to have a 60 combo 10 sack year.
  • Redskins 29 Giants 27… The Redskins defense has been one that I have tried to stay away from, but has a few nuggets of value. However, I do not see any start every week options. So proceed with caution deciding who to roster/start. Sua Cravens lucked into an INT. He still sucks, however he played on 43% of snaps and his snapcount is rising. For the Giants we welcome back JPP to the IDP elite. 6 solos, 2 assists, 1 sack, 1 FF. I have so many shares of him, I decided to bench him for Frank Clark. Never again. Sometimes we just overthink things and this is a good reminder. Vernon had a sack, but he is not the every week start that we thought he was going to be. Most rosters will dictate when he has to start, but if you have better options look there.
  • Raiders 17 Titans 10… I love Khalil Mack. He’s a beast. But his value trade wise is still sky high. I still think owners should test the market. I do not see him approaching Watt status. Karl Joseph is #good and should start every week moving forward and had 6 solos in his debut. We reminded you last week not to give up on Avery Williamson. He had a 4 solo, 5 assist, 1 INT week. I love him as an LB2. Jurrell Casey had a solid outing with 1 solo, 3 assists and half a sack.
  • Niners 18 Seahawks 37… Niners had a couple bright spots. Deforest Buckner had 1 solo and 7 assists; Bowman was Bowman with 6 solos, 1 assist, and a FF; Erick Reid continues to be one of the best FS in IDP with 7 solos and 5 assists. The Seahawks generated 0.0 sacks. With that offensive line you would have expected a couple. KJ Wright continues to match Wagner at a much cheaper price. Wagner has some name cache’ and it might be time to shop him. I LOVE Wags, but we always need to be evaluating and making good decisions for our rosters.
  • Rams 37 Bucs 32… This was a fun one to watch! Rams CBs Hill/Johnson/Joyner combined for 26/3.. busy day. Quinn had a nice day with 3 solos 1 sack and a FF. Barron and Ogletree had solid outings and provide a nice floor each week. Lavonte and Kwon are must starts every week. No ifs/ands/butts… Kwon had a 38 yard interception TD to go along with 6 solos and an assist. Lavonte had 7 solos, 1 assist, 1 sack and a FF; Chris Conte is not a good football player. However, he is a good IDP DB. I will most likely be playing him all season barring injury.
  • Chargers 22 Colts 26… The Chargers Manti Te’o went down with a big injury. Denzel Perryman and Jatavis will reep the benefits. Perryman had 7 solos, 2 assist and a sack; Brown had 5 solos, 1 assist, 1 sack and a FF. The Colts Sio Moore continues to perform with 7 solos, and an assist; Clayton Gaethers had a solid 5 solo, 1 assist, 1 FF effort; Erik Walden OLB joins the “Huge stats but I’m not worth picking up” club, with 3 solos, 2 sacks and 2 FF. It was nice to see DQwell have a decent game with 3 solos and 4 assists. I am still a bit nervous about him for the season.
  • Jets 3 Chiefs 24… The Jets need to shake this one off. They had an off day in all aspects of the game against a very good Chiefs team. Fitzpatrick threw a career high 6 INT’s and failed to toss a TD. Darron Lee looks better each game I watch. I believe he is an LB1/2 moving forward and looks to be a solid IDP asset. Don’t give up on Calvin Pryor. He only had 3 solos, but he was a top 20 safety last season. People will give up on him as he has started a bit slow. He is young and talented and worth a roster spot. The Chiefs Derek Johnson had a monster game with 9 solos, 2 assists, and an INT TD; He is so #Good!
  • Steelers 3 Eagles 34… Steelers had a rough IDP day. They couldn’t generate any takeaways or sacks. We had Fletcher Cox ranked 8th this week and he did not disappoint with a 3 solo, 2 assist, 2 sack, 1 FF game. Now if we could just get Jordan Hicks going L This LB corp is driving me crazy.
  • Bears17 Cowboys 31… The Bears SS Jones-Quarterly has been solid. He turned in a 5 solo 1 assist game. Jerrell Freeman has been a saavy veteran presence. Leonard Floyd is improving each week. He is the real deal. The Cowboys Barry Church continues to have one of the best floors for any DB with 6 solos and 3 assists. Metric Marvel Sleeper Byron Jones had 4 solos. He is a good stash, but tough to start each week.
  • Falcons 45 Saints 32… The Falcons defense is not good. We got our first Keanu Neal sighting playing on 64% of the snaps, while Kemal Ishmael was in on 37% of the snaps. Barring injury this trend will continue or even worsen for Ishmael. They had similar stats, but Neal is the DB to own there. If you can sell Ishmael, which we recommended doing last week, I’d get whatever you can for him; Deion Jones had a monster game with 8 solos, 1 assist and a INT for a TD. He is a bright promising rookie. Sean Weatherspoon played on 75% of the snaps and had 8 solos and 2 assists. With Campbell out he will continue to be an IDP asset. Even if Campbell comes back, Spoon may stay in there as he is producing at a high level; The Saints defense is also a mess. James Laurinaitis and Craig Robertson continue to be startable options. Stephone Anthony has been a disappointment. He is still a hold for me, but cannot be started as he only played on 52% of snaps. Nick Fairly is an interesting DT required option. He had a great outing with 4 solos, 3 assists, and 1.5 sacks.
