Dynasty Stock Watch 2016: Week 15
By Shaun Laibe (@ShaunLaibe)
Did you survive the first round of the fantasy playoffs? Either way, it’s never too late to make a few moves to improve your long term success. So, win or lose, we’ve got you covered with this week’s dynasty stock market report.
Rob Kelley RB WAS – Rob Kelley has been on fire in recent weeks, scoring all 5 of his touchdowns in the last 6 weeks. With that said, there is likely no better time to sell high on the undrafted rookie out of Tulane. For his own reasons, Jay Gruden is in love with the runner better known as “Fat Rob”. With a nickname like that, how can I disagree? Well, for starters, he is an “old” rookie at 24 years of age. This situation also slightly reminds me of Matt Jones. Remember him? He was the unchallenged starter to begin the season and now is nowhere to be seen. I have a feeling we could see the same happen to Fat Rob. Sell now while the price is high.
Jonathan Stewart RB CAR – Stewart has been one of the most consistent running back in the league over the past few years. Yet again, he is getting a ton of looks, scoring 7 touchdowns already this year. With that said, he has not been doing much with his carries as of late, rushing for only 66 yards on 24 carries in Week 14. Stewart will turn 30 years old before the 2017 season, which is the age of doom for fantasy running backs. If you can sell high on him now, you should do it.
Jay Ajayi RB MIA – Ajayi has been one of biggest surprises of the 2016 season. When Miami signed Arian Foster in the offseason, Ajayi’s value dropped like a rock. After witnessing the two 200-yard games from Jay Ajayi, you might not even remember that Foster was ever a thing this season. Unfortunately for Ajayi owners, Ryan Tannehill badly sprained his ACL in Week 14, so the Dolphins will be turning to veteran Matt Moore to save their season. Though his touches will increase, Ajayi is about to see a lot more men in the box. Hold him through this potential rough patch.
Leveon Bell RB PIT – This one might seem silly, but do not…I REPEAT… do not sell Leveon Bell for any cost. He’s the most valuable player in fantasy football right now at any position. As the winter weather in Pittsburgh continues to worsen, the more touches Bell is likely to receive. I’m not expecting many more 200+ rush yard performances, but he’s my #1 ranked RB from here on out. Sorry Zeke.
Laquon Treadwell WR MIN – How low can we get on Laquon Treadwell? Through the first 13 weeks of his professional career, Treadwell has seen 3 measly targets and just ONE reception. If it was bad then, it is much worse now after he was injured in the 1st quarter of Week 14. With that, I think its safe to say that we’ve hit rock bottom. Treadwell is still a premier talent and worth taking a gamble on. If you can get him on the cheap, I’d do it.
Jared Goff QB LA – Can I get an AMEN now that Jeff Fisher is finally out as head coach of the Rams?! The Los Angeles offense will improve regardless of who management brings in to coach the team in 2017. Jared Goff is fairly cheap and may even be free in shallow leagues. Is he the next Tim Couch? Maybe. He may never pan out as a legitimate fantasy success, but I’ll take my chances at that price.
