My quest for all 3 of my teams to win it all was crushed (read last weeks article to see all of my teams rosters)… The Wooden Icicles once again fell in the first round. They put up a mighty 141 points (ppr) but inevitably lost to another miracle week where the opposing team put up a mind blowing 172 points!!!
The Wooden Lava is on the path of success as they rolled over the opposing team with a score of 134 – 106 (non ppr). Andrew Luck (32 points), Josh Gordon (24 points), and the Cardinals D/ST (25 points) all helped carry the team on their backs.
As I said last week the Wooden Glacier team had a week 1 bye so there is a real hope that both the Lava and Glacier win it all! Keep your fingers crossed! Psssssst…. I picked up Gerhart in both leagues and am starting him. Hopefully this gamble pays off….
Here are last week’s results…
A win (for starts) and a loss (for sits) for a QB/TE/DEF is when they finish in the top 12 at their position for the week. A win (for sits) and a loss (for starts) is a 13th or worse finish. A win (for starts) and a loss (for sits) for a RB/WR is when they finish in the top 24 at their respective position. A win (for sits) and a loss (for starts) is when they finish 25th or below.

Record for the season (110-83-3)
Note: When it comes to RB’s and WR’s I am focusing on the RB2/WR2/Flex spot since most people know who their top players are.
Josh McCown – Wow! What a game against the Cowboys last week (39 points)! This week he plays against the Browns who may have Haden at corner back, however he cannot cover both Marshall and Jeffery. I would play McCown and smirk as he helps you proceed to the finals.
Shane Vereen – He had 17 targets last week and caught 12 of them for 153 yards, plus the TD he ran in. On the road against Miami this week, and with Gronk out, there is no need to think twice about starting Vereen!
Bobby Rainey – He will be fed the ball as the Bucs passing game is an inconsistent mess. Just keep plugging him in until he breaks.
Roddy White – He looks to finally be back, and in the nick of time! He caught 8 of his 10 targets last week, plus he is Matt Ryan’s best target. This week against the weak Washington D will be a cake walk for the Falcons offense.
Stevie Johnson – Despite EJ Manuel’s 4 picks last week, Johnson had 11 targets and was performing earlier this year with Manuel running the offense. He is a solid play in ppr leagues and a flex in non ppr leagues.
Dennis Pitta – Back from the dead!!! 6 receptions plus a TD last week! This is the target Flacco loves and I love too when he plays. :) <3 The Lions defense is not something to fear so Pitta is a good replacements for you Gronk owners.
Saints D/ST – They had 5 sacks last week and seem to be rejuvenated with Rob Ryan running the D. This week they face Kellen Clemens who is shaky and not someone to strike fear in a defenses heart. Play the Saints with confidence.
Note: These are the players you should flat out avoid this week due to bad match ups.
EJ Manuel – Even though he is playing the Jaguars this week, he threw 4 INT’s last week and only completed 54% of his passes. I am sure you can find a better QB to play than him.
Lamar Miller – He has been cleared to play but not so fast! Daniel Thomas is clearly in the mix (ugh) and this is going to be a throwing match as Tannehill will try to keep up with Brady.
Fozzy Whitaker – I honestly didn’t know who this guy was until I wrote this article. I just like his name, Fozzy Whitaker, kind of sounds like a Muppet. Fozzy!! He is a RB for the Browns and with McGahee out I guess you could play him. However his name is Fozzy Whitaker. #lolwhat
Mike Wallace – He came up small last week with 2 catches for 19 yards. I wouldn’t expect much more outside of the possible long bomb catch against the Pats this week. If you play him he will either go big or bomb your WR spot.
Kendall Wright – Came up small last week and is more than likely facing Patrick Peterson this week. I like him in ppr as a flex but not so much in non ppr as the Cardinals D (#4 D this year) is tough and will be shutting down this Tennessee offense.
Jordan Reed – Whether it is Griffin or Cousins at QB, I am not buying Reed dressing and producing this week. I would try and grab Pitta instead as this week is far too important to gamble on a rookie TE.
Titans D/ST – They literally did absolutely nothing last week. No sacks, no INT’s, no fumbles, nothing at all. They play the Cardinals this week and outside of a sack or two I really don’t expect much more.
